Meticulously Made to Measure

Based in the Surrey/Sussex area we are often asked to create bespoke, frameless shower enclosures or spa enclosures for historic or period properties. Because of their age this often means designing, manufacturing and fitting in a room with out of true walls and floors – part of the charm of an older property but a challenge when it comes to bathroom, shower room, steam room or spa design.

This was certainly the case recently, when we were asked to supply and fit a frameless shower enclosure with a more complicated than usual layout.

As can be seen from the CAD drawing, the age of this exceptional period home meant complications in the number of panels, angles and, in particular, the 90 degree junction needed between the front face of the shower enclosure and the narrow return panel beside it.

In order to get a good finish at this point and avoid being left with an unsightly sharp edge we used two separate glass processors. This meant the glass edge could be cut with an extremely precise angle, something our regular processor does not currently offer.

With this many panels, angles and out of true walls, our measurements had to be 100% accurate. However, to be absolutely certain, we templated the glass panels in wood beforehand. We are pleased to say all went well and glass fitted perfectly.

We installed the enclosure over two days, allowing time for the silicon to dry before hanging the door glass.
